The Four Eye Training Exercises in Brainpro

Eye training gets treated as one activity, which is why most routines drift. The eyes do four separate jobs, each handled by a different set of movements, and a routine that mixes them at random trains none of them properly. Brainpro splits the session into those four jobs and runs them in a fixed order, so the same work happens every day.

Smooth pursuit

Following a target that moves steadily, without the eyes jumping ahead of it or falling behind. This is the movement used to track a ball, a cursor, or a car merging into a lane. When pursuit is imprecise, the eyes catch up in small jerks and the picture arrives in pieces rather than continuously. How the smooth pursuit drill works.

Gaze stabilization

Holding a target still while the head moves. Everything you look at while walking, running, driving or lifting depends on it, because the head is never actually still. When stabilization is weak, the world blurs slightly with each step and the brain spends effort correcting for it. How the gaze stabilization drill works.

Saccades

Fast jumps from one point to another, landing accurately the first time. Reading, scanning a screen, checking mirrors and finding a teammate are all saccades. An inaccurate saccade lands short and needs a second small correction, and those corrections add up across thousands of jumps a day. How the saccade drill works.

Peripheral vision

Registering what appears at the edge of the visual field without turning to look at it. It is what makes a defender visible before they arrive. Why the order matters

The drills run in the same sequence each session: pursuit, stabilization, saccades, peripheral. Fixed order means the comparison between today and last week is a real comparison. A routine that changes shape every day produces numbers that cannot be read.

How long it takes

A session is about three minutes. That is short enough to survive a bad week, which matters more than intensity here. Visual control responds to frequency rather than volume, so five short sessions in a week does more than one long one.

What to expect

Most people notice the difference first in the drill itself: the target stops slipping, the jumps land cleaner. Changes outside the app tend to show up in specific moments rather than as a general feeling, a first serve read a fraction earlier, a page of text that stops needing a second pass, less strain at the end of a long screen day.

How many days a week should I train?

Five is a reasonable target. Visual control responds to frequency more than to session length, so short and regular beats long and occasional.

Do I need to do all four drills?

The session is built to run all four in sequence, and that is what keeps the session-to-session comparison meaningful. Individual drills can be practiced on their own using the instructions on each drill page.

Is this vision therapy?

No. Brainpro is a training app for visual performance, not a treatment. It does not diagnose or treat any condition and it is not a substitute for care from a qualified eye care professional.

Can I do these exercises without the app?

Yes. Each drill page describes the movement in enough detail to practice it unaided. The app adds pacing, progression and a record of how each drill changes over time.
